For Immediate Release
Dr. Bruce L. Thiessen, aka, Dr. B.L.T., a conservative singer/songwriter/psychologist outraged by the display of Pearcy's Bush-bashing "art" at the Department of Justice in Sacramento (and equally outraged at the idea of censorship) has
written and recorded a retort in the form of a song called Free Speech Gone Wrong (The Pearcy Protest Song). The song (music co-written with Darryl Ens) is being released on Right-wing Records, Dr. BLT's own independent label.
Dr. BLT is known for his appearance on an MTV-video-award-nominated hit music video by the band Cake, and the volume of his material, much of it political and for his politically-charged CD, Right-wingers Need Love Too (see review by Bryan Preston of National Review/junkyardblog below).
Dr. BLT has openly debated Pearcy in the past regarding the Pledge of Allegiance with reference to the "…one nation under God…" phrase, and this debate was published in Inside the City, a Sacramento newspaper.

RIGHT WINGERS NEED LOVE TOO // DR. BLT
First, there was the vast right-wing conspiracy.
Then came Right Wing News.
Now we have Right Wing Records, and Right Wingers Need Love Too, by Dr. BLT.
Fortunately for the world, only the last couple of those things actually exist, former First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton's infamous invocations notwithstanding. No conspiracy forced her husband to do what he did with that woman, Miss Lewinsky, in the Oval Office all those times, and no conspiracy forced him to commit perjury and suborn the perjury of others. But enough about that.
Dr. BLT is Bruce L. Thiessen, PhD, California psychologist by day and singer-songwriter by, well, day, night and pretty much the rest of the time. His music is focused on current events as they happen, making Right Wingers Need Love Too something like a cross between a lucid Bruce Cockburn--I did say "lucid," thus excluding most of the actual content of Cockburn's work--and a well-written blog. In fact, if you've been reading right of center blogs over the past year or so and then listen to Dr. BLT, you'll find yourself in familiar territory.
Sonically, Dr. BLT offers up a mix of country, folk and rockabilly, while vocally he tends to come off as a Dylan with clear diction. No, scratch that. I liked the line so much I had to include it, but Dr. B's voice is smoother and clearer than that. Especially on what I think is the best cut, "Merle Hasn't Lost His Fighting Side." I hear slight hints toward country legend John Anderson in that one.
The rest of the tunes slip from the humorous to the serious, touching on all the hot-button issues of the past few years. "FahrenHYPE 9-11" takes on Michael Moore (and was written before the rebuttal movie that carried the same title) from a psychological point of view (and maybe Bush does remind Mikey of his dad); "Republican Rock Stars" asks why we can only count the Ramones and Ted Nugent as fellow travelers; "Grievin' for the Gipper" laments the passing of Ronaldus Magnus; and the title cut recounts the Cheney-Leahy Senate expletive incident before calling on folks to stop bashing President Bush and then reminding listeners that right-wingers need love too. Which, believe it or not lefties, is true. "Let's Roll" is a haunting call to war in the wake of 9-11's devastation.
Lefties will find Right Wingers Need Love Too highly annoying, especially the lines about swift boats, Michael Moore and issues near and dear to the right side of the political divide. But righties and the open-minded will get a kick out of it. It's not often we hear our beliefs and politics set to music. Dr. BLT is a pro-life, pro-America hard-charging storyteller with, as Bono once put it, a guitar, three chords and the truth. Except I'm pretty sure I heard more than three chords on Right Wingers Need Love Too.
RWNLT is not destined to climb the Billboard charts, but it's an entertaining listen that often caught me by surprise. As a former garage band player, I can only envy its spirit and creative energy. If you're looking for an antidote to the usual garbage and nonsense you find at the local record store, and if you like a little grit with your tunes, Dr. BLT and Right Wingers Need Love Too may be what you're looking for.

Free Christmas songs for right-wingers:
Hello, fellow right-wingers. I've come bearing gifts. The first song is one I believe you've already heard, but just in case you weren't able to save a copy, I've sent a new link. It's a song I wrote to drive environmental extremists a little crazy. It's called Christmas Tree Hugger. The second song, introduced by "Arnold" tells the story of how Arnold Schwarzenegger, Governor of California (called the Triminator in the song), changed the name of the official tree at the state capital, back to "Christmas tree," after the previous governor, Davis, having caved in to pressure to be politically correct, had changed it from "Christmas tree," to "holiday tree." I don't recall whether or not you heard that one before. The bonus track is a traditional carol that I recorded with a little rock 'n roll flavor.
These are free mp3 songs that visitors at your site and/or members of your family/friends are free to listen to or download, if you happen to like them enough to pass them on.

An Open Letter to William Clay Ford, Jr. Chairman and CEO Ford Motor Company
Premier Automotive Group Should Fire Julian Bond
NAACP Chairman Julian Bond delivered a caustic address at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina Thursday night, where he equated the Republican Party with the Nazi Party and he characterized Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and her predecessor, Colin Powell, as "tokens" of the Bush Administration.
"The Republican Party would have the American flag and the swastika flying side by side," he charged.
In addition to his duties at the NAACP, Mr. Bond is also the Chairman of the Diversity Council for Premier Automotive Group, Ford's holding company for your foreign brands.
Why would Premier Automotive Group/Ford allow any of its Officers, Directors, or Advisors to behave publicly like that? I believe similar charges were leveled years ago against your forebear, Henry Ford, were they not? Ford Motor Company's Code of Ethics for Directors states ” Directors should promote ethical behavior ”. Mr. Bond has publicly and grossly failed to meet that standard.
These vicious public remarks, delivered in a nasty tone, are a personal disgrace to Mr. Bond and they reflect very poorly on the wisdom of Ford management to hire him to represent their diversity interests. What a joke!
Premier Automotive Group/Ford can't afford to keep a guy like this on the payroll.
I'm calling on Ford Motor Company to immediately disavow his public remarks and to fire him from his position. He's a serious liability to your organization and a turn-off to both existing and potential customers of your firm.
I have owned and operated various Ford products over the last 35 years and I'm very distressed that some of the money I spend with your company is being used to pay Mr. Bond his retainer and perks.
Your company has already admitted to a significant erosion of it's market share. Why would you want an obviously misplaced Julian Bond to futher alienate your customers?

Tom: Buck Owens, who died on March 25, in my home town of Bakersfield was the quintessential American Idol who modeled the American dream achieved through conservative ideals and the work ethic. We will miss him dearly.
In his memory, I'd like to share these songs with your listeners. Feel free to air them, royalty-free if you wish. They are from my new alt rock, rap, country, R&B Buck Owens tribute CD: Confessions of a Buckaholic:

With all of the bickering going on right now about the war in Iraq, I believe many folks have forgotten that the troops still need our support. This song is a reminder to keep on offering them our support. They will need every bit of it.

"I would have never imagined you could do something like that with that song."
"The song is "F@#* great!"
"It's going to be a big hit."
These are just a few of the ways country fans have been reacting to the as-yet-unedited sample of a countrified arrangement of Michael Jackson's Billie Jean.
Former backup singers for Buck Owens, Kim McAbee and Theresa Spanke will be adding their harmonies to the new country version of "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson. You can sample it here.
