The Owner's Son Vs. The Office Politician

That's how the presidential race seems to me. Bush seems like the prototypical Owner's Son, OK and friendly enough but you can't really visualize him getting where he's gotten without his Dad. Hey Tom, in your lifetime, what would you say was the most heated presidential election and how does it relate to this one? Hmm, that ended up sounding like an essay question. Expound!

I'd have to say 1968: Riots at the Democratic Convention, MLK and RFK assassinated, George Wallace in the southern states, a real war going on (with a draft!), and the Democrats really hated Nixon, much more than they hate GWB now (hard to believe, but true). Every election since has been relatively boring.
