could you post a county returns map in larger scale, so we could more easily identify the various counties? Or else provide a link to a site that does?

And hey, we have 22k people in my red county in Rural Missouri! (11k voters) Who says we are empty? :)
But it definately shows a wall in thought between heavy urban areas and the rest of the country.

Empty? Why, South Dakota has Wall Drug, and Wyoming has a Little America truck stop at each end!

Given that the difference in popular vote totals was only about 3%, all this map proves is how empty most of the red states are and how many people live in those blue counties. Take a LOT of red to make up for the blue.
