The World's Largest Ball of Twine endures as a paragon of strange US tourist attractions. Uttering the phrase instantly conveys core roadside values -- the mind-boggling achievement, the one-track obsession, the over-the-top silliness. For us, visiting a Twine Ball is a religious pilgrimage.

From NumberWatch:
And the Establishment spake all these words, saying, I am the Orthodoxy, which have brought thee out of the land of Freedom and into the house of bondage.

From the irrepressible Ann Coulter:
One Times review of "The Passion" said: "To be a Christian is to face the responsibility for one's own most treasured sacred texts being used to justify the deaths of innocents." At best, this is like blaming Jodie Foster for the shooting of Ronald Reagan. But the reviewer somberly warned that a Christian should "not take the risk that one's life or work might contribute to the continuation of a horror." So the only thing Christians can do is shut up about their religion. (And no more Jodie Foster movies!)
By contrast, in the weeks after 9-11, the Times was rushing to assure its readers that "prominent Islamic scholars and theologians in the West say unequivocally that nothing in Islam countenances the Sept. 11 actions." (That's if you set aside Muhammad's many specific instructions to kill non-believers whenever possible.) Times columnists repeatedly extolled "the great majority of peaceful Muslims." Only a religion with millions of practitioners trying to kill Americans and Jews is axiomatically described as "peaceful" by liberals.

From The Drudge Report:
LIMBAUGH CASE: JUDGE IN PALM BEACH HOOKED ON OXYCONTIN, REHAB, REMOVED FROM BENCH; NO CRIMINAL PROBEOf course, we knew this all along, didn't we?A Palm Beach County Judge -- who operated in the same jurisdiction that is currently hearing the Rush Limbaugh pill case -- was hooked on OxyContin and forced from the bench, but was never fully investigated if he obtained the pills legally, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.
Within the last 18 months, Palm Beach County Judge Robert Schwartz was "involuntarily retired" and removed after he checked himself into a treatment center for dependency of the painkiller OxyContin -- the same drug at the center of the Limbaugh probe.
"He was severely addicted to prescription pain killers," an insider tells the DRUDGE REPORT. "He probably got them from a variety of sources. But unlike Rush Limbaugh, he was never prosecuted! His records do not appear to have been seized nor were his doctors’ offices raided. Talk about friend of the court!"
News of the Palm Beach judge's ordeal appears to give credence to Limbaugh's claim that he is being selectively targeted.
