A timely Letter To The Editor I found quoted in McBride's Media Matters:
Editor, the Gazette:
It is the Republicans' fault. Five (now six) of the most devastating Hurricanes occurred during the tenure of Republican presidents. Hurricane Hazel, 1954, President Eisenhower; Hurricane Audrey, 1957, President Eisenhower; Hurricane Camille, 1969, President Nixon; Hurricane Andrew, 1992, President Bush (41) Hurricane Charley, 2004, President Bush (43) and now Katrina, again with Bush 43.
From this point forward, we should outlaw Republicans in office. Look, we have a drought and our congressman is Paul Ryan-a Republican. It doesn't matter that both of our U.S. senators are Democrats; they are responsible for only areas where the grass is green from the dewy freshness from an all-night rain. If only the Democrats had a majority in the House and Senate and we had a Democrat in the White House, summers would be fresh and warm (never hot), tornadoes would cease to exist and we'd have snow on Christmas Eve.
