Consider these lifespans:
- 1889 - 1966
- 1954 - 1998
- 1940 - 1980
- 1936 - 1959
None of these people chose the first number, the year they were born. And like most people, they themselves didn't choose the second number, the year they died.
All they had control of was that little " - " : the dash in between those two numbers. That little dash represents the sum total of what they were able to make out of their lives.
So what are you doing with your dash to-day?

Feeling mortal, Tom? :)
I spent my '-' today hanging sheetrock in my wife's new office over our garage. And I'll spend tonight working on the shopping cart for her new web site :)
Check it out if you get a second (though after Thursday we should have the shopping system added as well)

(Coincidentally, I met the guy hanging sheetrock in my new office in the walk-up attic.) Then, I had to "dash" out to meet with clients. Next, I "dashed" some problems. We went to lunch, where I had a "dash" of pepper on my salad. Coming home, I placed my Coke on the "dash" as I drank it on the drive back. I wanted to get home early, but a wreck on the interstate "dashed" that plan. I cut on ESPN and watched some track meet and a 50-yard "dash." Now, I'm trying to figure out if I made the best use of my "dash." Good question.
