OK, OK, so "Iron Eyes Cody" wasn't his real name, so what? I always liked the practical attitude of B-movie critic Joe Bob Briggs with regard to names:
Q: Is Joe Bob Briggs your real name?
A: I wasn't born with it, but when I try to use any other name, I don't make as much money.

I had a brush with fame when he walked by me in the Atlanta airport many years ago. Maybe the money he earned helped to offset the tears.

Conway Twitty (real name Harold Lloyd Jenkins) had a similar attitude. I heard him tell a caller to a radio show he'd been Conway Twitty longer than she'd had her name.
