I had seen this version of the Mexico Olympics logo on a box of tissues that we have and I thought it was plenty distracting.
The version displayed here is downright hard to look at.

They must have seen the Responsive Eye exhibit a few years earlier - seems like a direct take (rip) off of the whole Op Art movement.

I remember that logo. 4th grade ended for me in 1967 when my sister visited Mexico and returned with a bunch of olympic v-neck t-shirts. They were selling them a year in advance of the event! I always thought the logo was pretty cool. Of course, look at the times; practically every poster for anything was like that.
