If you believe in creation rather than evolution the thought that a monkey is a representation of your ethnic group doesn't even register.

I thought it was because monkeys were used by racists as demeaning symbols for black people. Racists currently call black people monkeys and apes.

IMO, the problem is a cognitive one among people who think that the President authors legislation.
