New Research Rejects 80-Year Theory of 'Primordial Soup' as the Origin of Life

The reason the "primordial soup as the start of life on earth" has taken a hit is due to the fact that not one experiment can prove it. In the 50s, the Miller-Urey experiment tried. They filled a sealed glass container with what they believed was the atmosphere of early earth and then shot "lightning" (electric sparks) through it. They got a bunch of goo all over the inside of the glass. The goo was made up of ammino acids! Well, that was convincing. Except that's as far as they got. The ammino acids never coalesced into proteins. Never. Then it was discovered that their composition of the atmosphere was wrong. That was in the 1970s. So, real scientists have known for 30 years that most of this was garbage.

Unfortunately, stupidity dies hard. Just last year I saw a program on the History Channel that showed the Miller-Urey experiment, but they never bothered to state that it failed miserably and is just so much B.S.
