One word Tom: "Cost" Well, a second word would be "Reliability". The cost of printers & supplies, and reliability issues with printers are the main reasons the manufacturers of electronic voting machines are resisting this. I understand that printer reliability could be a real problem if one was to break down in the middle of a busy voting day.
Still, I think they can figure something out. I already have been disenchanted with electronic voting with the number of reports of people voting for Kerry only to see the votes switch to Bush.

I don't trust those things either. Why not just use paper ballots that can be scanned electronically?
