Another Great Idea: The Jayne Mansfield 44-Cent Stamp
OK, OK, we're just fooling around on this one. I got the idea after making the Jack Benny 39-cent stamp mockup.
Update May 21, 2009: Now that the Post Office has increased the cost of a first-class letter to 44 cents, this would be the perfect time to give Jayne this long-overdue recognition, eh?
And this is exactly why the Post Office consistently loses money; they have no sense of humor.
Can you imagine the books of stamps that would be sold and never used?
Can you imagine the number of teen-age boys that would start collecting stamps again?

This stamp should stand out. As the post office uses letters to label "make-up" stamps to transition from one first-class rate to another, maybe we could call this stamp something like, say for no particular reason, the 44-D.
