BTW, what about the other 9 most obnoxious bumper stickers in Madson? Let's have some truth in advertising here!

Tom Moore

The reaction I get to this sticker is folks hollering out their windows, or running up to mine at stop lights to ask, "where can I get one."

One guy took it so seriously he bumped me from the rear, apparently intending to put it into practice! ;=)

None of the symbols on the original are nationalistic or political as communism or nazism are. They are personal value systems. You seem to have missed the point on that, and especially when you identify the crescent moon with radical terrorism.

KT

I stumbled upon this site by accident. After reading the posts here, I'll gladly take my leave and go back to purchasing a nice COEXIST sticker for my car.

Tom McMahon

Or maybe you're both just idiots, eh? You should always go with the simplest and most obvious answer first . . .

Melissa9

LOL My honey wins again. I commented on seeing the coexist bumper sticker, that I thought it was a nice thoughtful way of expressing the meme of civilization.

He laughed and said it would just spawn additional hate from radical Christians.

I hate it that he always winds up being right.

J.B.

Why can't people like you accept that not all of these people want to kill us? We are all apart of the human race we are no different. we all bleed the same blood and cry the same tears. This is just another reason why we are all still children. The "they started it" syndrome. Fortunately, my generation is the up and coming and I believe that people like you will disappear with the past and coexistence will be our future. Not to say that I am naive to human nature and the chaos and destruction we bring, but we also have the knowledge to learn from our mistakes and create a better future. So, stop holding on to the past and bring forth a better future for our children instead of filling them with hate. As, far as I'm concerned you're the one being the nazi and keeping close minded hate alive to poison the world.

Okay NorthByWest, I'm pretty sure that the Muslim religion isn't the only one that says, basically, our way or the highway. Number two, your right. Bumper stickers don't mean shit in places like Korea or Zimbabwe.

Why do people have to look so deeply into it's meaning? Can't we keep it simple in saying I would like to have some harmony on this planet? Why does it have to have any other meaning other than that? Better yet, why are we arguing about it. Does that, in some way, defy the meaning of the message? Is it really necessary to kill so many people? It might seem hopeless, but can't we at least try? There's no harm in doing that.

And Fred, if we all tried to follow the message, then maybe we wouldn't be trying to kill one another.

Buddhists used a variant of the "Swastika" symbol long before the Third Reich. It means "luck" in their religion. But hey, feel free to fly off the wire and make uneducated assumptions. It's cool.

"Coexist" is not a poisonous word. "Coexist" is a word of hope, of peace, of something that we would like to have rather than war. I read a lot of extremely hateful comments that I do not appreciate because most are not true. Newsflash!! Not all Muslims are extremists, although some of you appear to think so. I wish all of us, American or not, would be a little more open to people who are different than us. Different is not wrong. Different is not horrible. Different is not evil.
And don't start calling me names, because I'm just someone that still has hopes for this world.

Dancing Rabbit

It's interesting in discussions of terrorism almost invariably the terrorist group that has killed more Americans is neglected. I'm refering to the religious right. In its most modern incarnation. it would include Timmy McVeigh, and Eric Rudolph, but historically groups such as the Ku Klux Klan have been documented to have killed at least five thousand in the 20th century. That doesn't include many of the "white" riots where Blacks were run out of town or killed and their property and businesses stolen with government complicity.

The last act of right-wing terrorism was the attack on the members of the Unitarian Church in Tennessee. This was not just a case of just another nutjob with a gun; this was a guy fired up by the ravings of Limbaugh, O'reily, and Coulter.

Leah

You don't seem to really get the point of the bumper sticker. The bumper sticker expresses more of a hope than a reality. Someone who has that bumper sticker is expressing the fact that they believe that their is hope for the human race to get along.

Candace,
Let's all join hands and sing "Cumbaya". Did you catch that arrogant apparition in the mirror this morning? It's those of the pacifist left who led al-Qeada to believe attacks on the US mainland were greenlighted. Get that through your organically fed skull. It's you and those of your lk that the Muslim extremists despise for spreading your filth via Hollywood to the rest of the world. They only respect power, they prey on the weak, pacifist, ammoral such as yourself.

I wrote "Deceitful Democratic Party" in response to your May 28, 2008 Democratic Party contribution solicitation email. Your email offers criticism of John McCain for benefitting from a private fund raiser held by president Bush. I think you have exposed the DNC's deceitful nature and the democratic party's shameless complicity. Neither have any such criticism of Barack Obama accepting campaign funds from Trinity United Church of Christ: a Black nationalist congregation, Bill Ayers: an admitted terrorist who bombed the Pentagon, federal property and police stations or Tony Rezco: an indicted extortionist.

Deceitful Democratic Party

Dear Tom McMahon,

Is your criticism of John McCain wise? Do you truly want to link McCain to Bush’s roll as a fund raiser when that would invite intelligent people to tie Obama to his fund raisers? By criticizing McCain’s motivations you force the judiciously curious to question Obama’s motivations.

John McCain is at least qualified to be president of the United States of America. Unlike Barack Obama, McCain has lead a life consistent with his presidential aspirations. His accomplishments suggest worthiness of the office he seeks. John McCain will be my choice if Obama is anointed by the DNC as its choice. I will vote for down-ticket democratic party candidates, to limit McCain’s ability to appoint ultra-left-wing conservative supreme court judges and to thwart his ability to continue the Iraq war. I think the DNC's insistence upon forcing the unaccomplished, undeserving, unqualified, deceitful, Black nationalist Obama on us is contemptible. Hillary Clinton has experience, veracity, accomplishment, dynamic-situational-awareness, resiliency and international gravitas. Those are the qualities of a worthy nominee for president of the United States of America. Obama, by stark contrast, is deficient. I think our country and the international community hopes the nominee seeking the worlds most powerful office is no less than fully prepared. Hillary Clinton and John McCain possess those necessary attributes. Qualifications and proven winning abilities should be your focus if you want a democrat in the White House. You merely amplify Obama’s weaknesses by proffering syllogistic character impugning fund-raising issues.

If the DNC is serious about winning the White House, then put forth the candidate capable of winning the Regan-Democrat vote. That candidate is Hillary Clinton. No astutely aware, logically thinking person could conclude that Regan-Democrats would vote for a Black nationalist (Black Liberation Theology adherent) to be president. It will not matter to Regan-Democrats which of the often conflicting seven-plus duplicitous rationales Obama peddles as excuses for being a twenty-year Wright-hate-mongering congregant. Obama's self serving, politically expedient, meretricious pomposity will be rejected and he will be the one denounced. It does not require acute mental acumen to discern the improbability of such a candidate successfully constructing a winning electoral map.

Tom, your mental complacency exposes the illogic and vulnerability of your complaint against McCain. Foolishly attempting to tie McCain to the hip of Bush's failed presidency justifies tying Obama to the vestments of Wright's hate-filled pulpit, the money laundering pockets of indicted Obama fund raiser Tony Rezco and the ticking bombs of Obama political supporter and fund raiser William (Bill) Ayers. I thought we weren't supposed to make those connections. Or, are we just not allowed to think logically when doing so reveals Obama's radical anti-American beliefs, elitist posturing, opportunistic propensities, amorphous ethics and utter lack of preparedness to be president of the United States of America.

Candice pulled her Volvo over to the side of the road, took a sip of her fair trade latte, and typed on her MacAir:

Well, obviously it would be a bunch of conservatives ripping apart a bumper sticker that was created for a peaceful movement.

Well, obviously it would be a bunch of neohippies creating a bumper sticker that does nothing out in the mean streets beyond their liberal utopias.

People like you give America its arrogant reputation.

People like you are why Al Qaeda decided the Americans would do nothing if attacked.

No wonder why most of the world sees us as a know-it-all nation.

Well, that COEXIST bumper sticker seems to count as a know-it-all statement, doesn't it? It clearly misses out on the fact that according to the Quran itself, held as holy scripture by ALL Muslims, there is NO coexistence possible. All the world will convert to Allah, or subvert to "dhimmitude," which is not exactly coexistence.

Hopeful people would like to think that there is some kind of harmony beyond the chaos.

And I would like to think that I am getting a pony for Christmas, and that the US government is competent--but wishful thinking does not keep the bombers away...

Those who advocate the coexist movement are simply trying to accept others who share the world with them.

So in other words, the sticker is like a mating call for hippies, rather than an actual attempt to help solve any problems?

I'm sorry but not everyone on the planet is from the United States,

No kiddin'? Not even them Mexicans, or the Canadians? Golly, we out here in Jesus-land is so dumb...halp us, Ohbama, we is stuck here in Pennsyltucky!

but we all share it together...AND THAT is what the coexist movement is trying to portray.

But that's portraying something that isn't true. Why would you have a lie on your bumper?

Equating nazism with coexistence is absurd and ignorant.

It is equally absurd and ignorant to mis-read an argument--but maybe you didn't know this, because you are blinded by your rainbow-colored glasses.

Apparently you don't understand the concept of humanity. You should all visit foreign countries and experience something outside of your little American bubble.

Okay, let's pop out of our little bubble and take a look at the beautiful world of coexistence. Take a visit at the wonderful socialist utopia of North Korea and marvel at how beautiful Communism is for the millions of people who starved to death.
As a woman, enjoy driving--oops, I mean NOT driving--as you visit Saudi Arabia, and explore your personal freedoms to be...umm...well, not much, since you are a woman.
Oh--When was the last time your family experienced an honor killing, by the way?
Do you like how things are going in Darfur, or Zimbabwe, or other hellholes where bumper stickers are useless as bullet shields?
Yes, as an American humanity is what you wish it to be, safe behind the shield of two oceans and men and women who sacrifice a lot to let you post silly stickers on your car.

Mickey

I don't know, maybe I'm missing something in regards to the original bumper sticker... what's the big deal? It's just a statement for people to make. I have one that says "crazee gurl" from when I was younger. Personally, I would not display the coexist sticker on my vehicle, but if others want to, let 'em. So what. Live and let live. This has nothing to do with how I feel about the bloody murderers who killed my cousin on 9/11/01. I think that our efforts overseas need to go to Afghanistan (sp?) and catch that creep Osama binLadin... but that will probably never happen because of the beurocracy (sp?... can you tell I'm tired, can't even spell). Anyway, if people wish to be blissfully ignorant, let 'em. Truth will out. Ciao.

Candice

Well, obviously it would be a bunch of conservatives ripping apart a bumper sticker that was created for a peaceful movement. People like you give America its arrogant reputation. No wonder why most of the world sees us as a know-it-all nation. Why don't all of you realize that the reason why these foundations come about is because all of the violence going on in the world. Hopeful people would like to think that there is somekind of harmony beyond the chaos. Those who advocate the coexist movement are simply trying to accept others who share the world with them. I'm sorry but not everyone on the planet is from the United States, but we all share it together...AND THAT is what the coexist movement is trying to portray. Hey, always great to have the ad hominem crowd with us! Irony, anyone?

Billy Joe

Butler,

Did you see the photo of Tom? He looks a little too heavy to be off fighting his favorite war.

Can he even run? Who knows...

Butler

Well, since you all hate them so much, I wish you all would sign up to go fight and let some people who keep getting their tours extended come home.

But come to think of it, the inability of you people to tell the difference between the muslims/Arabs/whatever that blew up the WTC and the ones that didn't is responsible for all those kids stuck in Iraq, you're probably pretty pleased with yourselves for sitting pretty here while they're getting hit with IEDs there.

I hate terrorists, but I don't care much for blowhard bigots either. But whatever. Just keep giving the government more power to track us using our cell phones while you blabber on about bumper stickers. That'll keep us safe.
