Nick, that doesn't matter; both have 3 electoral votes.
Guy, the stronger cases for relocating states would be made for California, Missouri and Kansas; they started the Civil War in the Union, while what was to become West Virginia started as part of Virginia in the Confederacy.
Related to that, if one were to use the Mason-Dixon Line, Maryland would be part of the South.

I think you've reversed Alaska and Hawaii. Alaska is definitely North, and Hawaii I believe is actually in the same latitude as Mexico.
